Young workers are struggling to find work: LinkedIn Exec Tip
LinkedIn’s chief economic opportunities are aware of the challenges facing job seekers, from the slower contract to artificial intelligence, but also sees the opportunity.
Aneesh Raman Business Insider told that he believes that job seekers can build meaningful jobs by identifying their strengths, continuing learning, and creating what he calls “self -story.”
This is especially important for young people. In the analysis of the Federal Reserve in New York for 35 years of job data, the unemployment rate for new university graduates between the ages of 22 and 27 the unemployed rate in the United States did not exceed a scale of March, the last month available: 5.8 % of the new graduates who were unemployed, compared to 4 % of the manpower 16 to 65.
However, new graduates are not the only ones who struggle to find work. With the exception of a brief decline in the epidemic, American companies are employing nearly The lowest rate Since 2013, according to the data of the work statistics office. Workers’ demobilization is still a little According to historical standards, but for many who need a job, the market is much more difficult than it was a few years ago.
Raman asked about these challenges and what are job seekers You can do to stand out. Below are excerpts edited from our conversation.
What advice do you give to young people who are struggling to find work and want to prepare themselves for job success in the future?
I think the most important, difficult and exciting task that workers in beginners should start to determine their self -story. What are the skills that you have uniquely and you have built it through live experience and learning?
The second step is to learn something every day. This begins with artificial intelligence. What are the tools? How do you use it? How do you use it to serve the skills you have, in the service of experience you want to build? But with the passage of time, this learning will be about this basic curiosity that will lead what you do in your job. And you began to make all this part of your daily habit of how to build your career, its fruits will come a great time.
I lived this story. My career has no meaning at all through the job title, and this was sometimes difficult, as I had this interesting profession but the patient who made it difficult for people to know what I can reach in that organization and do better than anyone else. But when I looked at it as a group of skills in all my jobs, from the war correspondent to the writer of Obama’s speech to work on Facebook, here, the novel of the explanatory stories was essential from the beginning.
Now I have a unique function of the courses I play in LinkedIn at this time. And I think this is what people should start thinking about it. How do you build a profession that builds towards a job that you can do better than anyone else, based on these basic things you learn unique for your skills and experiences?
Ash Raman says that workers in beginners can benefit from determining the “self -story” and continuing to learn.
Inch Raman
Can you share more about the meaning of determining “self -story”?
It actually begins to get a good stadium for yourself, and not for the employer: the presence of a self -excited story for it, and this depends on the skills that you may not recognize even these wonderful great powers that you have, and that you must build your career. Listing stories for me was not a collection of skills that I have identified until recently, and now it is primarily how I understand my ability to do something that the world appreciates and needs.
So you have to reach a subjective story you are enthusiastic about, and if you are excited about that, this excitement will be released in each interview you do. It will make you more desirable as an application provider because you will bring this type of energy and condemnation about what you want to do in this role with these skills and that experience, including the desire to learn and the desire to grow that will make you stand out.
Do you think that adopting artificial intelligence makes it difficult for young people to find jobs?
I now think, in many ways, is the best time and the worst times when the workforce enters. There is a great deal of uncertainty in companies on how to adopt artificial intelligence, and the growing focus on entry levels as one place where Amnesty International can help provide more and more quickly. We know that job seekers hear less than they want from recruits.
But what I want workers in beginners is that there are also all these signs as the best times that you should be early in your career. I think you will have more and more people who transport jobs within companies as they get a greater ability to learn and grow and do more interesting jobs than the old work world allowed.
We’ll also see functional planning. There will be a lot of agency for individuals to build their career in their twenties about the skills and behaviors they want to refine.
This means that you get more work in your life in the 1940s, you will have a greater amount of ability to determine the effect you want in the job, where you want to work, and this is a new thing. The ability to build a profession on your conditions is really new, and it has just started.
I think the future of work will be a future that no one excels, and this is exciting. It is also new, and therefore everyone will have to know their way to determine what is related to them so that no one can overcome them, and that they can build a profession.
How much search for work for young people can be explained by economic conditions that may improve?
I think the work will change for everyone, regardless of the quarterly or annual airspace around the economy. We are entering a new economy. The knowledge economy in which we lived for about half a century on its way out. The new “I” skills, new difficult skills, are non-technical skills-unique capabilities that we have as human beings. We know that people’s skills have become more and more of how people are employed and promoted, including software engineers. It will affect each sector at work.
How can employers and educational institutions better cooperate to prepare young workers for roles that cannot be easily replaced by artificial intelligence?
I think the most important thing for anyone who can influence the systems surrounding the work is to be a supporter of man. It is important for me to start there because nothing about the work story was a story of humans at work. It was always the story of technology at work. Thus, all systems that surround work, from education to employment to entrepreneurship, have been built around a decreasing role for humans in work and increased productivity and efficiency.
I think that being a supporter of humans means redesigning these systems with two goals in mind. The first is to help each worker to become reading and writing. Each person at each stage of their career must ask their company and owners of work to help them identify the tools of artificial intelligence and become better in using them. This is one of the areas of focus that I believe that employers and teachers should focus urgently.
The second helps everyone to become a pioneer. This does not mean that you have to launch a business: this only means that we all have to become entrepreneurship as human beings at work. Thus, it is a mixture of curiosity, creativity and mercy that communicate with new ideas and work with others to improve them. It includes behaviors such as flexibility, the ability to adapt, and the development of condemnation that you see many entrepreneurs should be cracked.
I think that the most important thing for any young worker is to recognize the difficulty of this moment, but to overcome fear and really start knowing how you want to build this profession that could not have been imagined by previous generations of workers. Be able to build the profession they want, the ability of artificial intelligence to help you learn and grow, and the ability of artificial intelligence to help you build and expand products and companies. This is a different moment from any other generation that was working. So make sure that you see this as much as it runs the daily difficulty in the labor market at the present time.
