Amid DOGE efforts to reduce costs, federal agencies were asked to review and justify their spending on consultants.
The Public Services Department (GSA), which runs purchases and real estate on behalf of a large part of the federal government, has requested that they would review their contracts with 10 main consultations.
They have until Friday to provide GSA with a list of contracts they consider necessary and those that can be cut.
“As part of the Trump Vance administration’s efforts to get rid of fraud and waste, GSA initially requested the agency’s partners to write a short explanation about the reason why the consulting contracts are necessary for them to achieve their legal purposes,” GSA spokesman told Business Insider.
“We have identified the need for more in -depth responses, and we are in the process of collecting additional information at this time,” the spokesman said.
The ten major consulting companies are under review:
- Deluette
- Accenture Federal Services
- Bose Allen Hamilton
- General dynamics
- Lidos
- guide
- Hii Mission Technologies Corp
- International Foundation Science Applications
- Federal CGI
- International Business Machines Company
These ten companies collectively earn tens of billions of dollars annually from their contracts with the federal government. They are appointed to assess solutions, advise and implement the government to help the government save money over time and become more efficient.
In its last financial year, Deloitte US got 9 % of its total revenues from government contracts
Others depend heavily on federal contracts. Booz Allen Hamilton separated from her advisory arm for the private sector in 2008, and all its annual revenues, which are approximately $ 11 billion, are born from the public sector.
Leidos Holdings, which provides national security and technology services such as scanners at the airport checkpoints, said in January that it has achieved about 87 % of its total revenues from US government contracts last year.
With government contracts that constitute a large part of the companies ’income, some consultants told Accessure and Deloitte Bi that they are concerned that the reviews will lead to the demobilization of workers.
