We have built an Amnesty International tool to give doctors something that they rarely have: time

This exciting article depends on the conversation between Erez Druk, Freedom Ai, an Amnesty International Assistant for Doctors, and his wife, Dr. Gabi Micheller, the family doctor. This conversation was edited and intensified for clarity.

When I was in stay, I really started to feel the weight of the notes.

I would like to stay in the hospital until midnight, and write notes. You are home and still have notes to do it. It was fixed – a fact of life. Some people suffer. Until some resigned.

One day, my husband, Eriz, asked me what makes my life easier. “Can you just write my notes for me?” I said jokingly.

Erez took the idea seriously. He started building something.

I have built a simple guide on the concept using GPT, a customized version of Chatgpt, for a few hours. It was a naked version of Freed, which allowed the patient’s instructions, which are what doctors send to patients after visiting patients, and self -notes, which doctors use to document patient experience in their condition.

I offered him Gabi. “Interesting,” she said, but she told me that she still needs some improvements. Sometimes it would be broken, he did not know the names of many medications, and he was not in harmony with different specialties.

I knew I needed another data point outside my wife, so I asked for the opinion of our friend, another doctor. She came to dinner, showed her the product, and her response was completely different – one of the immediate excitement. I wrote a text message the next day I asked to use it.

I knew that we were on something.

We moved quickly from there. It took some work to make it compatible with HIPAA. I wanted to get a trial version quickly. We got some doctors to test it. We asked them to obtain reactions constantly. Freed building is not only related to vision or strategy – it is about listening to users and repetitions based on what they need.

When I started working in a clinic, after staying, I started using Freed every day. I can finally finish my notes before leaving the office. On one occasion, I forgot to send a patient to the patient, but freed reminded me. That moment made me realize the amount of Freed help, not only with the passage of time, but with the details that I may have missed otherwise.

Other doctors in the clinic also noticed. They came to me and say, “Your husband? He saved me hours of work.” It was permissible.

One thing I love is that Eriz takes my input seriously. He really understands the nuances of concern to doctors, and the team is also learning.

Gabi has a weekly office watch with product managers and designers, where they share their work with them. She provides her point of view on what is useful and what is not useful.

Surprisingly – or perhaps not – even after spending a lot of time with doctors, there is always more to learn. We can never be really in their shoes, as there is a constant depth and differences for detection. For this reason, this setting is of great value: it helps us approach the understanding of how they think and what is really beneficial to them.

Freed, as the name suggests, is everything about freedom. Our goal was to tell doctors how to use their time – we simply wanted to return them.

This mentality really affects our marketing. We are very intended about not telling doctors what they should do – they know better than anyone else. We do not ask doctors to be heroes or pay messages such as keeping “eye contact” or “spending more time with patients.” It may already be enough to contact the eye. And if you want Netflix and Chill, great.

We are not here to tell people how to be better doctors.

Managing the relationship between the husband, wife, founder, consumer, innovator and advisor – not always easy. It is definitely annoying sometimes for correct comments.

I think we are doing it well, although I don’t know how to do it.

I try to be specific about the comments. Like, this is something you have to change completely before moving forward, it will be nice, or it’s unusual.

Eris told us that we needed to integrate the patient’s instructions. It includes a summary of the visit and clear instructions based on the work plan that was created during the appointment. The goal is to facilitate them to read, understand and follow up. It is now one of the most popular features in Freed.

We are creating a document analyst now at the request of users. It will take any clinical document and give the doctor a summary. Users can also ask questions, and will provide short responses with references from the document.

All the time, since we launched in January 2023, Erez learned about medicine, and I was learning about startups. So, I know that it should move quickly. For this reason, I only focus on the most important things, and pressed heavily when it is important.

I liked to participate as part of our relationship.

The work is really the second whisper after Gabi – and I am obsessed with work. So the fact that we can talk about everything, and she knows that people in the team, and what we are doing, are really fun.

We created editors together. It is a love message from us, our team, for all doctors there.
