Watch the Concepts of the Boeing F-47 fighter plane from Boeing, Lockheed
The pursuit of the next generation platforms in America began more than a decade in early 2010.
The advanced defense research projects agency launched a study in 2014 to explore strategies to maintain the edge of the United States in air superiority. It was simply found that the development of combat aircraft of the sixth generation will not be sufficient to ensure the superiority of air against American opponents, instead urges a “family of systems” through multiple areas, including air, space and cyber space.
The superiority of the air is the situation in which planes in the nation can fly with a little danger of other missiles and surface missiles. The long edge of the United States in achieving this is increasingly threatened by the spread of air defense missiles and China’s aircraft accumulation, including two types of hiding fighters.
Based on the results of DarPa, the Air Force launched its own study, Air Superiority 2030, which laid the foundation for its NGAD program, which depicted the creation of a future hybrid fleet of unintended air systems.
As one of the most sensitive and large -scale programs in the Air Force, a few details were publicly known about the NGAD program.
In September 2020, Will Robert, head of the air force acquisition, confirmed that the service had tested a preliminary model for the next generation fighter. This was the first public recognition of a higher secret program he said he hoped to get a “greater credibility” about the progress of the program.
By 2023, Boeing, Lucheid Martin and Nortorb Grumman seemed to run to develop the NGAD platform, which are possible designs in promotional materials for their future projects – a common practice among American military aircraft manufacturers.
Northrop Grumman- The main contractor for B-2 Spirit and B-21 Raider Stealth-was also running for the construction of a NGAD but he came into consideration as a major developer in 2023, and instead he intends to support other bids as a supplier.
