The Australian car becomes a legend of a law outside in an American race across the country
- Three drivers cover 3760 km in 23 hours and 35 minutes only
- Chevy Ss Commodore hits speeds of more than 270 km/h during the controversial range.
- Custom fuel cabinets and high -tech monitoring systems allow the record attempt.
When most people think about car break, they usually portray a timing roll in Nürburgring, not a race similar to the outside in the United States. But for three American drivers, this is exactly what happened. Armed with Lions 2017 Chevrolet SS -The American version that was returned in Australia from Holden Comodor left dearly-on a bold tour of the coast, and rewriting the date (and the few traffic laws) along the way.
The ambitious journey from Jacksonville, Florida, to San Diego, California, started when Bronson JUSTICE shared his standard vision in a video posted on Phenoic. Christopher Michaels and Rob Specter chose, plans for the safest way as possible for high -speed operation with each side of the trip, from fuel stops to traffic patterns.

The perfect monster engineering
This was not just any old cars transported from a used car. Under the cap, the factory got 6.2l V8 (which was already a monster with 309 kW and 563 nm) some dangerous promotions. The broken hump column was discovered during the preparatory before the range, which led to a full cam to ensure that the engine was able to handle use for a long time at three -numbers speeds.

Aerobic dynamics and stability also obtained seizure. The suspension was reduced to keep the car on the road at high speeds, and the radar discovery system has been installed to help avoid undesirable confrontations with the application of the law. But changing the real game was the 83 -liter additional fuel tank, which helped reduce hole stops and gave SS tolerance to suit its speed. The car modifications allowed to reach 270 km/h at one point – the highest speed during the trip.
The race with time
The team left Jacksonville, Florida, Lisan Diego, California, at exactly 12:01 am, hoping that the beginning of the night will help them avoid early traffic. But the trip was not smooth for a long time because it moved through crowded cities such as Houston and San Antonio, where they faced crowding even in the early hours. Radar detection and traffic monitoring systems in actual time helped them weave them through urban areas without sacrificing an average speed of 167 km/h much higher than the highest speed in the United States of 137 km/h.

The journey was not without moments. The police stopped the speed ticket that forced them to control their way and timing. Later, noise and vibration from the background indicate a problem – the Delaminated frame that could have ended or worse. The team soon jumped to work and changed to their reserve framework in record time, knowing every minute calculated to achieve their goal.
Returning to the road, the team relied on the task control crew following each step, and directing them to the optimal fuel to reshape the high octane and provide weather updates and traffic in the actual time. Finally, after 23 hours and 35 minutes of intense driving, careful mobility, and more than a few nearby calls, complete a 3760 km trip.
