David Sachs, artificial intelligence in the White House and Crypto CZAR, is a strong supporter of Duji’s work to reduce the size of the US government.
But one of the areas he said could use more resources in a low -proof federal agency, the Industry and Security Office, which imposes export controls on the chips made by the United States.
During the Friday episode of The All-in Podcast, Sacks said that China continues to obtain its hands on organized chips from the United States despite the export controls.
“I clearly think that the Shell companies, the front companies, were created either by the Chinese government or entities in China to evade export controls because they eventually want the chips,” Sachs said.
The United States government has implemented restrictions and rules on China’s ability to obtain semiconductors, including those in NVIDIA. On Wednesday, NVIDIA said it expects billions of dollars due to licensing requirements to send H20 chips to China.
The White House advisor added that there is another issue, which is that Western companies will ignore the place where their chips end.
“I think there are many Western companies that will appear in the other direction or turn a blind eye to them and the rules are not implemented as religious as it should be because they are not raised,” he said. “This is where I think the United States government should be very difficult.”
Sacks said that there should be a campaign on the gaps that companies may use to send their chips out, and more monitoring and inspection.
According to SACKS, doing this requires more resources for the Industry and Security Office, which is subject to the Ministry of Commerce Airlines.
Sachs said he felt that the agency “was suffering from a shortage of employees with regard to the importance of” imposing export controls.
“This is one of the few areas of the government that I think actually needs more resources,” Sachs said.
