EVS at reasonable prices that do not need to be low technology: Rivian Software Head

Rivian and VW cooperate to create more EVS at reasonable prices, but this does not mean that they are planning to capture high -tech features.

Tesla competitor with Volkswagen to develop a $ 22,500 electric car, said Wassym Bensaid, chief software employee in the company, said next EV will not waive technology despite the very low price point.

VW and Rivian announced last year’s deal that will witness that the German auto giant invests more than $ 5 billion in starting start and forming a joint company to develop the upcoming generation and EV technology programs, with Bensaid and VW Exec Carsten Helbing as a participant.

In March, VW unveiled ID.LEVERY1, a built -in electric hatchback that will be the first Volkswagen Volkswagen to include the programs developed by the joint project.

EV is scheduled for 13 feet of four seats in Europe by 2027, compared to about 20,000 euros ($ 22,500). Volkswagen did not say if she had any plans to bring her to the United States.

“It is a very close thing to my heart because it is a way to bring this technology to many cars,” Bensid told Bens.

“The inexpensive cars should have low technical, and this is the beauty of the preparation that we have enabled through the joint project,” said Rivian’s CEO, who spoke to BI on the sidelines of the Times future at the car conference.

Benaid said that the hatchback at reasonable prices will benefit from the structure of the rural software to reduce costs.

Instead of using individual computers to control ingredients such as seats, lights and doors, all ID.EVERY1 features will be handled by a central computer based on Rivian technology, which will allow Bensaid VW to save money by using lower parts and simplifying design.

ID.Lvery1 will not be the first vehicle to use technology developed by the joint Rivian-VW project-which will be Rivian’s R2, which is scheduled to be launched next year-but it is a big step for both companies.

One of the main causes in which customers is still getting electricity, and Volkswagen is betting that its cheapest energy -powered offers will help fill this gap.

They are not the only ones who make this bet. Startup Slate Auto caused a stir last month when it revealed a $ 25,000 pickup truck, which is scheduled to be sold in the United States in 2026.

The Slate Truck truck cleared the vehicles to become more computing and plagued by smart technology.

The basic model lacks power windows, radio, and any type of integrated information and entertainment system, as the CEO of Slate Bi told the company that the company focused on simplicity to maintain the price as low as possible.

To date, consumers have not shown that bothering them with a lack of bell Received 100,000 reservations reservations 50 dollars In just two weeks.

When asked about the Slate approach, Bensaid said that Rivian welcomes more competition in the EV market, but he made a “different option” in how he dealt with electric cars within all.

“Unexpected cars should not be limited advantages,” he said, adding that Rivian believes that it is possible to provide a “rich user experience” at a low price by making vehicle technology more efficient.

“This is our approach. We would like to enable the choice for customers, but without such a severe settlement in terms of the total experience,” said Benesid.
