Beincrypto conducted an interview with Dr. Han during Token2049 Dubai to explore how Gate.io deals to expansion, organization and user’s confidence in the high risk competition today. Strategic growth, competition and long -term vision

We analyze data regularly, track industry developments, monitor user request, and follow up emerging trends. In the early days, I personally spent some time in societies, diving in forums and platforms to find out what people were talking about, what they were using, and what they needed. This helped us understand what we must build and show.

Now, of course, our team grew greatly, so I no longer do everything myself. We have a dedicated team that deals with data analysis and provides detailed reports, which help me make informed decisions for the entire company.

It is definitely difficult – because in this industry, the competition is very severe. You should be very fast and innovative to stay in the foreground.

Over the past ten years, I have seen many exchanges of cryptocurrencies and service platforms rising and collapsing.

I think Gate.io is one of the oldest cryptocurrencies that still operate at a higher level in this industry. We have passed many difficult situations over the years.

Overcoming these challenges requires a lot of hard work and flexibility. In my opinion, the most important factor is to think in the long run. In the world of encryption, there are countless chances-but to really succeed, you have to think of short-term gains and focus on sustainable growth.

You always take this into consideration. But you should not focus only on short-term benefits-you should think in the long run. For example, it is necessary to build confidence with users.

You also need to look seriously in the organization. Compliance requires a large investment and efforts to build the appropriate infrastructure. It is a long -term commitment.

Sometimes, you should be very patient – it may take only several years to get one license.

This is very normal, yes. But when you focus in the long run, I think it becomes easier to accept and manage.

Institutional adoption, proving reserves, and building confidence

All this is due to the construction of confidence with users. In 2020, we have developed a way to prove to users that we still keep their money safely.

We wanted to prove that we do not transfer their assets – that their money is safely stored and can be trusted. To achieve this, we presented a method called the Merkle tree system.

We also open the screw symbol so that anyone can verify it. Users do not have to rely on confidence on their own – they can trust the code transparency.

This approach was a major step in implementing evidence of reserves. Since then, the assets we manage have grown on behalf of users significantly, several times.

Today, we run more than $ 10 billion of encryption assets for our users. This transparency is especially important for our institutional customers. Most of them are adult traders who deposit large sums and expect a high level of confidence.

We also use the same reserve proof system. These founding users not only trade our platform, but also provide liquidity for retail users, and therefore their confidence and participation ultimately reinforce the security and total experience of all. That is why this is an important part of our infrastructure.

Expanding in Dubai and beyond

Vara license is a very important landmark for us in Dubai. As we all know, Dubai is a major center for the global encryption industry.

Everyone loves Dubai, and many industrial players move here. Over the past two years or thirty, more than a thousand companies and entities related to encryption have moved to Dubai.

The reason is clear: Dubai provides a very friendly environment for encryption. For this reason we also plan to build a large office and develop a strong team here.

If you look at the global Crypto adoption, the average penetration rate is about 10 %, which means that 10 % of the global population holds encryption. But in Dubai, it is much higher – 25 %.

This shows the development of the ecosystem for encryption in Dubai. Therefore, get this license a big step forward. It enables us to work in a compatible and organized manner, not only in Dubai but also across the Middle East and North Africa.

User safety, transparency and asset protection

I think this is the most important aspect of users.

Globally, as I mentioned, the regulations have become increasingly strict. We now see many areas where the regulatory frameworks are already-such as Dubai, Malta and Europe with a MICA license (markets in encrypted assets).

In these judicial states, when we apply for a license, we must make it clear to the regulators that we have strong mechanisms in place to protect the user’s money. We offer complete transparency – with determining how to manage the governor, how we secure special keys, how to deal with cold and hot wallets, and how we distribute the keys through multiple safe sites to ensure safety.

In addition, in many of these regulatory areas, we must also purchase insurance for our users and increase the promotion of money protection.

This means that in the market -subject markets, the user boxes are very protected. In other areas that the regulation has not been clearly determined yet, we still apply our high standards. We explain to users that we have strong systems in place to protect their origins from infiltrators and other risks.

As we mentioned earlier, we also provide evidence of reserves – another key layer of confidence and transparency for our users.

Artificial intelligence integration: innovation in security and user experience

Artificial intelligence everywhere now. In Gate.IO, we use artificial intelligence widely – both in our daily processes and within our products.

Internally, we rely on the artificial intelligence of the user interface design, graphics design, product development, brands and marketing. It has become an integral part of our workflow.

What many people may not realize is that we also use Amnesty International to help coding. It is incredibly effective and provides great support for our developers.

Artificial intelligence also plays an important role in protecting our platform. It is of special value to enhance security. By taking advantage of artificial intelligence, we can analyze safety records faster and more accurate. It helps us to discover external and internal threats quickly and effectively.

On the side of the product, we have already combined the features of artificial intelligence for our users. For example, we offer the news summaries created from artificial intelligence so that users can stay in constant and efficient knowledge. Summarization of artificial intelligence has proven to be very useful.

We also use Amnesty International to analyze the financial statements of users. This allows us to make it clear to users how to improve their money, assets and balances – providing ideas that could be a strong layer of support and emphasizing their financial decisions.

The future role of central exchanges

We always say that Defi is the future, and today, many users already use web3 portfolios and participate with Defi regularly. Gate.IO started as a CEX, but now we have also launched a Web3 portfolio and provided services to a series for our users.

I am constantly thinking about how to build the next generation-one-one can serve billions of users around the world. This means that we need to support different preferences. If someone wants to use a traditional account, then there is nothing wrong with that. If they prefer a web3 account, then it is okay.

We aim to provide every possible access way. At the same time, we want users to have complete flexibility, whether they want to interact with the assets of the chain or assets outside the chain or both.

As a platform, we now offer both CEX and Dex functions. Instead of competing with Web3 or Defi, we already merge it, and we collect both experiences together under one roof.

Driving and advice lessons for WEB3 founders

I learned many valuable lessons from this industry.

About 10 years ago, when I started this work, I didn’t know much at that time. I saw a lot of opportunities and wanted to seize it quickly – so I moved quickly, trying to catch everything.

But I neglected the management of risk and security. This was a major lesson for me. You move quickly, then suddenly, you are hacking or having a serious problem.

It was a painful but important awareness: you needed to slow down, focus on building a strong infrastructure, and making sure everything was safe from the beginning.

This early experience taught me a lot. I think it’s one of the reasons for Gate.IO has been very stable over the past ten years. I really benefited from this transformation in the mentality.

For others – especially WEB3 founders and new expatriates in the industry – I think it is important to think about these things early. Learn from the lessons we have already paid. This is incredibly important.
