Ripple CEO trolls Bitcoin users with new statement
Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse has taken to social media reaction To the rapidly escalating dispute between Bitcoin users and XRP fans.
After the cryptocurrency industry tried to feign unity following major victories last year, an out-of-control fight broke out between the two major communities.
The dispute began after Riot Platforms’ Pierre Rochard accused Ripple of lobbying against the much-touted Bitcoin reserve creation.
Garlinghouse seemed to confirm that the company was pushing for a multi-token alternative, something that was guaranteed to absolutely anger Bitcoin extremists.
Strike founder Jack Mallers argued that Ripple was trying to undermine “prosperity” and “freedom” in the United States through its lobbying efforts.
Swan Bitcoin’s Brady Swenson has criticized XRP as a “centralized scam” that only masquerades as a digital asset.
Samson Mo, Vocal Bitcoin evangelist, says Ripple still isn’t hated enough. “You still don’t hate them enough and there are still more reasons to hate them.” He said.
“Ripple is an American company in the same way Enron was an American company. Taxpayers don’t want to back your scam,” Alexander Leishman, CEO and CTO of River, commented on social media.
The two main sects do not appear to be close to burying the hatchet.
“You want the government to buy XRP, yet Ripple is a crowdseller of XRP? With all due respect, walk the walk if you want any credibility,” Rochard said in response to Garlinghouse’s satirical post.
He also accused Ripple of moving “billions of XRPs” to exchanges to prepare for a “rug dump” after the token’s price soared.
