It was a week in Sumba was the perfect escape from Bali crowds and traffic
In March, I decided to take advantage of my flexible schedule and spend two months in Bali, and I worked remotely and exploring the island.
I have already visited me several times, and I am a great fan. But over the years, with the spread of her popularity, she became more preoccupied. The iconic Bali magic and unique energy are still present, but now coexist with large crowds and thick traffic.
During my time there, I enjoyed a lot of what Bali presented: yoga, massage, vocal baths, authentic spiritual traditions, wonderful elegance, and delicious food. I found pockets away from the crowds in the least developed areas in Bengley and Sidemen. But after a few weeks in Ubud and South Bali, I found myself yearning for peace and calm-specifically, a break from the permanent sound of motorcycles.
Fortunately, I had planned to conclude my time in Indonesia with a weekly side trip to the nearby Sumba island with a friend.
Population overcrowding is no longer a problem
SUMBA is a 90 -minute flight from Denpasar International Airport. It is about twice the volume of Bali, and it contains the six -year -old population, and a small part of the tourists.
It is also known that the Wi -Fi service and the limited cell service across large areas of its uncontrolled territory. There are no signs on the main roads that refer to the scenic sites of the island, which makes it difficult for visitors to find them without local evidence. We rented a guide that found my friend through Facebook, and we are happy that we did that.

Long live the natural beauty of Sumba with our expectations. Cofus Sandy with a rocky frame, turquoise lake, the landscape of the velvet green hills, and left the waterfalls my friend while I was in awe. We have fascinated the goat hook next to the road and winding horses across the spaces of golden savanna.
Most of the time, we had the scenes for ourselves. Sometimes, groups of local children will come to speak to us. The roads were free of traffic.
The horses were seen near the Boro Campera Savanna on the eastern side of Somba Island.

Along with the absence of tourists and traffic, the absence of diet and wide massage options came, which we used to in Bali. I did not find wine or cocktails anywhere in Sumba, although I imagine that it is available in a handful of 5 -star hotels on the island.
Most people in Sumba did not speak much in English, including our guide, so we needed translation applications to communicate most of the time. When there was no cellular service, we had to resort to manual gestures.
And dates? We discovered that it is nothing in Sumba. Our driver tends to appear 15 to 20 minutes after the agreed departure time, then asked for coffee before we leave, then stop eating breakfast in a road side store or get gas. He was a photographer and an excellent photographer for drones, which helped compensate for his comfortable sense of time.
A real mental reset
Our journey on the SUMBA road for four days covered a lot of land.
After the road trip, we spent three nights at the Boutique Hotel along an abandoned sandy beach in East Sumba, about an hour from the airport, and there was complete relaxation.
Shaded from the long Cemara trees, the temperature was perfect for both day and night. We demolished every night with the sound of the gentle ocean waves that turn on the beach.

Our hotel, Cemara BeachFront Suite, was $ 80 a night and came with a great service. The employees brought tea with a little sweets every day every afternoon and they were always ready to provide any additions that we requested to make our stay more enjoyable. Except for wine. Next time, bring a bottle or two in my bag, along with a good book.
Vigilant sponsorship allowed us to employees and poetic preparation to relax and completely enjoy our presence there. We could have been very longer.
Sumba has provided wild beauty and calm relaxation perfect for a ballet.
