Zelenskyy accuses Russia of trying to create a “impression” of a ceasefire

Ukrainian President Folodimir Zelinski said early Sunday that Russian forces “continue isolated attempts to progress and inflict losses in Ukraine” despite the declaration of Moscow on Easter.

In the morning update, Zelinski said that the Russian army was “trying to create a general impression of the ceasefire.”

“Through different front lines trends, there were already 59 cases of Russian bombing and 5 attacks by Russian units,” Zelinski wrote on a report issued by the Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander Olexander Serski.

He added that the Russian forces also carried out artillery strikes and used drones in the Russian Kursk region, where the two sides were imprisoned in the fighting since Kiev launched a sudden attack last summer.

During a meeting in the Kremlin on Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin called on his forces to stop all military operations from 6 pm at Moscow’s time on Saturday to midnight on Monday.

“The human motives are guided, and the Russian side announces the ceasefire on Easter,” the statement said. “I ask all the military operations that stopped for this period.”

The statement said that Moscow expects Ukraine to follow its example, but the Russian forces should be “ready to repel the potential violations and power of fire by the enemy, as well as any aggressive actions on its part.”

But in a series of social media updates, Zelinski said that Russian attacks were not calm and questioned the motives of Moscow for a ceasefire.

He wrote on Saturday evening: “According to the reports of the Supreme Commander, Russian attacks continue in many sectors of the front lines, and the Russian artillery fire has not subsided. Therefore, there is no confidence in the words coming from Moscow.”

On Sunday, Zelinski also repeated his invitation to extend the Easter truce to 30 days, saying “The offer”It is still on the table and that Ukraine “is acting according to the actual situation on the ground.”

This comes after President Donald Trump said on Friday that he “will pass” to try to mediate a peace agreement between the two sides if “one of the two parties makes it very difficult.”
