- She paid $ 15 to take a phrase from the center of Portland, Maine, to the nearby island of Peaks.
- The Short Ferry Ride provided me with great looks on Maine and Casco Bay.
- In general, I enjoyed the ride at reasonable prices and I had a beautiful day to ride a bicycle throughout the island.
I love living in Portland, Maine, but sometimes I hope to change the scene on weekends.
Fortunately, I have many options for daily trips because the service of the local island of Casco Bay Island offers tours throughout the year from the center of Portland to a few other nearby islands.
Recently, I bought myself a back and forth phrase to Peaks.
Peaks can only be reached by the phrase.

Located in CASCO Bay, Peaks can only be accessed by boats.
Less than a thousand people live throughout the year Peaks Island, although this number increases in the summer. Many of the island’s residents regularly use the ferry to move to and from the center of Portland to go to work, join the school, or manage the missions.
Therefore, the phrase usually works repeatedly between the two places. I appreciate this gave me more flexibility about leaving and returning from my daily trip.
My 17 -minute journey was stunning views, and I went through many landmarks.

I was assigned to me a round trip ticket for me only $ 15. The ship was left from the waterfront area in Portland off the commercial street.
I chose to sit at its upper level to increase my view of the short ride, which lasted only 17 minutes.
From the water, Fort George monitored a former military fortress; Wood light, a beacon in southern Portland; And the McCarath Island, a government park.
I enjoyed cycling all over the island and stopped on different beaches.

Once I arrived, I liked our phrases was a few minutes away from an ice cream salon, seafood restaurants, and shops that rent golf vehicles or bicycles.
The island seemed too big to explore it on foot, so I knew that I wanted to rent some transportation. It was possible to cost me $ 100 to rent a two -hour golf cart or $ 20 for the bike, so I chose the most affordable option.
When I got my bike, I got a useful map highlighting the various features of the island.
I liked riding through homes painted with panels and rocky beaches with a virgin look. It looked nice and calm, in contrast to the popular beaches in Portland, which could be crowded on weekends.
There was a lot for me to do it on the island.

At one point, I took my bike to Battery Steele, a concrete military immunity of the 1940s covered by writing on the colored walls.
I managed to follow a path until the temple so that I could look about its tunnels and rooms. It was bigger than I expected and felt annoyed, but the views from the top were great.
I also enjoyed stopping at the island’s umbrella museum, which includes thousands of umbrellas collected over the years.
The island also had many art galleries that display Portland paintings and other cities in Maine.
In general, I spent a great time visiting Peaks for today.

My daily trip was enjoyable and affordable, especially since the ferries tickets were cheap and the trip was very short.
Peaks Island felt like a nice escape from the hustle and bustle in the center of Portland – in addition to that the bike riding throughout the day was a great exercise.
I will return, although I may try to transfer the ferry to the Casco Pay Island different for my flight the next day.
