I moved from New York City to Seattle. It lasted only one year.

In early 2024, I decided to leave my life in New York City and started a new adventure on the western coast in Seattle.

After visiting my mother’s cousin in Washington West in adolescence and seeing the area that was filmed in the beloved “Al Shafak” privilege, I pledged to live there one day – and finally I had the opportunity.

In addition, I was in New York for 10 months after moving from the United Kingdom and felt instability because I could not get a lease – I lacked a record of the history of the rent in the United States to qualify – and thus I was in the subtle. You need to change.

I moved to Seattle, I expect to love her, but the reality was completely different. A year later, I returned to New York City.

I loved my apartment with a water view, but public transport was missing

A six -month rental contract (which I later renewed for eight months) has signed an apartment in the Kits County, which is about 15 miles outside Seattle by Ferry.

My apartment was not less than incredible – I overlooked PUGET, and I can often see the sea black, and if I was really lucky, OCAS is from my window.

You are located a short distance from the Washington Washington Station, with the possibility of access to Seattle via a 30 -minute trip or one hour trip on the largest free phrase.

It was not the time spent on the phrase anything I was not used to in New York, as it could take one hour to reach some parts of Queens to Brooklyn.

However, the main difference is that there were only eight larger phrases a day, often in individual times. The fast phrase was very small and it was often required to wait for an hour at peak times if you want to break a seat.

If I hold a meeting in Seattle, I will need to calculate two additional hours, and if I want to go for dinner or a night outside, I will have to pick up at 10 pm at home or wait even after midnight – which happened.

One evening, I met a friend visiting outside the city, and certainly, he missed the ferry 10 pm and I had to wait until 12:50 am, which made me home around 2 am

While I felt safe, I was still uncomfortable because I was very late on my own.

Public transportation was annoying, but not my main problem with Seattle

I also thought that living in Washington means more exploration with long -distance walking and trips to the beach.

I had visions of myself often adventure to the Olympic Olympic Park, but since I had no driving license, this was almost impossible without taking several buses on a trip that takes nearly half a day to complete it.

My mother’s cousin still lives in the area, but despite her presence and her other distant family in a relatively close place, I rarely see her, and she found it difficult to make friendships.

Before moving to the West Coast, many people warned me of the difficulty of forming new arrivals – a phenomenon called “Seattle Freeze”.

Often, I was smiling and asking people about their day while eating coffee or in a store. Most people were shocked because I spoke to them and ignored me.

I also tried Bumple BFF and joined Facebook groups such as Girl Girl Group, but nothing came from them ever. I was talking to the people and arranging the meeting, but they either stopped responding or the timetable for the unreliable phrases made it not possible to meet in a pub or night of a club – the type of picnic suggested by many people.

I missed the hustle and bustle of New York City

Although it can be overwhelmingly overwhelming, I truly missed New York and New York.

In Washington, there were times I would go for about a week without leaving the house because I had no one to stick with.

My small town of Kitab County was mainly consisting of people in the army and retirees, and many places that were closed by 8 pm and the events that I wanted to attend in Seattle sometimes were not in line with the schedule of ferries.

On the other hand, when I lived in New York City, I was attending the media events and hanging with friends at least three times a week.

The social aspect is the most missed.

Therefore, in April, more than a year after getting away, I went back to New York City.

The year I spent in Washington does not feel that time is lost. I learned a lot about myself and around me.

This helped me realize that I was made for the life of the big city, and I love to be imagined in New Yorker. I really feel life in this city.
