I got a job with Apple after I arrived at LinkedIn

About three years ago, I was not actually hunting when a recruiter found me in Apple.

I was working happily as a talent partner in Spotify without any plans to leave.

I took the role and worked in Apple for seven months – to leave more than 100 contractors, including me. The result was not expected, but it was a huge educational experience.

I worked with some of the best creative leaders in the industry, and I saw what the best companies are looking for in talent, and learned to think beyond the traditional employment tools. This experiment made me a stronger recruiter and formed how I help the job seekers today.

I think my LinkedIn profile has been improved for the exact role I wanted is the key to the recruitment that finds me. Here’s how to prepare it and advice for job seekers.

He formulated a convincing summary that tells your story

Your LinkedIn summary is one of the first things that recruits view, so it should be clear and effective. I always recommend keeping it short – from five to six camels as a maximum.

The key to its well is:

  • Start with who you are.
  • Highlighting the effect it brings to this industry.
  • Use relevant keywords from the job descriptions you care about.
  • Add a personal touch that reflects who you are out of work.

For example, in my summary, I included my passion for music and djing. These details were not random – my love for music prompted me to work in Spotify in April 2021. The details helped me to tell my story and connect it to my dab.

If you are applying to Nike, you may run a marathon. It includes this. The goal is to align your personal vision with the role you target.

Use the right keywords to make your profile

When I moved from Big Pharma in Allergan and Abbvie to Tech in 2021, I only updated my LinkedIn ownership – I have made sure that my address clearly showed my experience in creative and marketing.

LinkedIn is this text line under your name, and one of the first things for people on your profile. He should mention what you bring to the table and help the appropriate opportunities to find you.

The recruits are looking for candidates who use specific major words, so I have included manufacturing terms, such as “creative employment”, “marketing” and “product design”.

In my summary, I exceeded my job experience. I used keywords related to the skills included in the relevant job descriptions such as “logical search”, “X -ray research” and “applicants tracking systems”.

I also highlighted my influence in every role you have done – expanding employment efforts, partnership with leadership, and building employment strategies.

Many people simply list their work titles, but this is not enough. The recruiter may see a “creative director” in your address, but they will not know your specified experience.

When I review 20 profile, I will choose those that show the effect rather than just inserting responsibilities.

Keep updated your profile-even if you are not a job hunting

Even if you are happy with your current turn, do not neglect LinkedIn.

I was not active when Apple communicated, but my profile was updated. This is what made it easy to find.

Make sure:

  • Update your career address and responsibilities with clear effect data.
  • Add results and standards instead of just inserting your tasks.
  • Keep updated your site – liquidating recruits by site, and lost or old information can mean that you do not appear in searches.

Take advantage of networks and referrals

In 2021, when one of the Apple recruits found me on LinkedIn, the companies were employing quickly, and the opportunities were everywhere.

Now, employment slows down, and companies are more selective. You can only wait until the recruits come to you.

When I publish a job as a recruiter, I can get 300 CVs. I don’t have time to go to each one and use keywords to filter candidates and may miss some of the best applicants.

If you know someone in a company you care about, communicate with them or a recruiter. All difference can occur.

The recruiter who helped me get my job in Allergan also helped me get my role in Spotify.

Use LinkedIn as a tool, but do not rely on it alone

While LinkedIn is a powerful tool, different industries have different employment strategies.

When I was recruiting designers, I found candidates through governor sites like Behance, SquaresPace and Farmer. Instagram was an effective tool to find social media managers or photographers. For engineers, platforms such as GitHub and Gitlab were used.

Many companies also publish jobs in private recession societies before announcing them. The job seekers must join the recession groups for industry and participate in talks there. It is a way to underestimate communication, especially in technology.

To be intended about where and how to apply for yourself, you can increase your chances of finding the right job.
