I compared the introduction and background to the economy on a long -term journey

It is hot, but I love the back of the plane-especially on a long flight.

After a handful of eight -hour flights at the back of the economy, I decided to find out if my preference was strong.

On the Lufthansa trip with a long trip between Denver and Germany in the summer of 2024, I decided to compare the areas of the economy.

On my external trip, I sat in the 42nd grade, the third to the last economy. On my return trip, I was sitting in the 11th grade, the first rank of the economy.

Each seat had its privileges, but I adhere to the back of the plane.

When it comes to food service, the front wins

A few hours after the return flight to Denver, the flight attendants came with vehicles full of meals. Each passenger was asked a simple question: chicken or pasta?

This was not the case when you were sitting in the back. When the flight attendants arrived in the economy, the options were ran out. Each tray is delivered from beef and mashed potatoes.

From experience, this seems to be the direction. A similar position occurred on a trip to Tokyo and again on a trip to Germany.

If you eat difficult to please, this reason may be affected alone by choosing a seat in the front row. Instead, I usually order a vegetable meal for long flight flights, so my meal was already chosen before boarding the plane.

My main focus – regardless of whether the front or back is – is to avoid bathrooms

When I am tight in a narrow space, the last thing I want to worry is the smell of the bathroom around me for more than 10 hours.

Therefore, my No. 1 priority when choosing a long seat is sitting away from the bathrooms. On many large aircraft, economic bathrooms are concentrated in the center of the cabin.

On my 10 -hour trip to Germany, I was in the back of the economy, and there was no directly behind a bath. Instead, the kitchen was a few meters away, and it is ideal for a quick vacation.

I had no bathroom for the return trip in the foreground. If you choose the introduction on a future trip, you will achieve dual that the excellent economy cabin does not contain bathrooms near my seat.

I remained open seats at the back of the plane

You are lucky enough to have a trip or two long trips without a passenger in the average seat. I celebrated every additional room and tried hard to re -create this luck.

I am convinced of the best opportunity to get an empty bench is if you are in the back of the cabin. Since most people avoid the background, these seats are finally chosen, or we hope they are not chosen at all.

A few days before every trip, I reviewed the seat map and noticed that my theory was correct. Most of the remaining empty seats were in the direction of the back of the economy.

Unfortunately, this was not the case when the plane boarded. Both flights were fully booked, which means that I was sitting next to someone regardless of where I was on the plane.

On one trip, sitting in the depth helped me get faster

One of the main arguments to sit at the forefront of the economy is that you start from the plane faster.

Although this is the case on most of my long flights, it was not when we landed at Munich Airport. Instead, the passenger flight attendants informed that we were using both the front and back doors to get off. Since I was sitting at the back, I was out of the plane at any time.

However, if you were sitting at the back on the return flight, I would be one of the last people outside the plane. This also meant a much longer line when I reached customs.

There is no economic seat on a perfect long journey, but I stick to the back

Regardless of the seat, a 10 -hour trip is not enjoyable. You have learned to be patient and celebrate small winnings, such as getting a window seat or getting an empty seat nearby.

In the end, everyone has their preferences. A mine coincides with the back of the plane, where I have a stretch plate and a better opportunity in an empty seat.
