How to use the technology founder from artificial intelligence to fight Als

This is an article based on a conversation with Indu Navar, CEO and Founder everything. It was released for length and clarity.

My husband and I have been in the technology of building the ground floor that changed the world.

I have degrees in electrical engineering and computer science. My career started in NASA and I was in the founding team for what is today. Then, another company started running for 14 years. After that, I was investing and advising. I have always been fascinated by big data and building analyzes over it. My husband, Peter Cohen, worked in Amazon about 18 years ago. Join about 1996 or 1997 and the construction of Amazon Mechanical Turk, a crowd sources.

Life was really good. Here we make change. He was still in the late 1940s, and then began to say: “Hey, I think there is something wrong with my ankle. It is not a back bending.”

We are like, “Oh, not a big deal, it is just an ankle issue.” No, it was the issue of the spine. Oh no, it was a brain problem. It took two years to discover that it was actually als, which is the degeneration. The als diagnosis method is called elimination, so you can get rid of diseases and other problems. I think we have spent only more than $ 100,000 to diagnose it.

Every 90 minutes, someone is diagnosed on Als, and they hear the same diagnosis they heard 80 years ago. You have 2 to 5 years to live from your first symptoms. This is what shocked me. Diagnosis takes a long time, and we are late compared to other diseases, such as cancer. Many people go away even without diagnosis.

Peter was diagnosed in 2018 and died in 2019. We have shook in a way, as entrepreneurs and milk, problems, we ask how this is in a bad condition where we have not done anything about it for 80 years? This problem is very transparent until it is passed.

A non -profit organization in its name, called the Peter Cohen Foundation. My goal is to be able to say that he helped treat Als with what he has gone through. We are used to talking all the time about what we will do differently if we know that this problem exists before it happens to us.

Our goal with the Peter Cohen Foundation and everything is to bring technological innovations to Als and other neurological degenerative diseases. We do everything from monitoring and evaluating what is happening in clinical trials and using sensors to predict what will happen. The sensors measure the speech of patients, breathing, walking, and microscopic skills.

Today, we do not actually have the tools needed to discover whether the drug you give a patient is really working because the way they reside your deterioration is your question, “on a scale of 1 to 4, how is your speech? How is your walk? How easy is your food to cut?” For us, we are vegetarians. We do not cut our food, so how do we know how to answer it? It is called the result of the patient, and many interrogations have not evolved for years.

Using sensors, we do not have to wait until you reach the point that you cannot do. In fact, we can predict your whereabouts in 3, 6, 9 or 12 months. We will use it for early diagnosis. We have diligently, and our algorithm in clinical trials.

We call it the research that the citizen drives because we go directly to the patients and do research with people who are affected by the disease, so that we can involve thousands of people. We send sensors to them, wear them, and monitor them remotely.

We have the English App allows patients to talk to others who have Als and overcome this trip. They can also speak to the LLM artificial intelligence tool, but it is not like speaking to Chatgpt. Our artificial intelligence has been really rowed and trained only on our data and 220 hours of experts who spoke to us. It is a very reliable data collection.

Currently, we move on to apply our process to our other disease, which is Alzheimer’s disease. Huntington and Parkinson will also be in the near future. Our goal is to move the needle and fill the gap. We just felt that there is an incomplete need regarding how we are interested in people, and if you do not care about people, you will never reach a treatment.
