How Rodrigo Coelho from Edge & Node re -imagine the web with the graph

Rodrigo Coelho is not strange to build from scratch. One of the startups in the 1990s to Levide Edge & Node-the primary team behind the graph-reflects its way a mixture of entrepreneurship, technological insight, and deep faith in the decentralized future of the web. In the Hackernoon interview “behind the start of the operation”, Rodrigo sits with Ishhan Bandy to think about his journey, the evolution of the graph, and how he imagines a future in which web3 is not real – but it is inevitable.

Ishan Pandness: Hi Rodrigo, it is a pleasure to welcome you in the “Behind the Startup” series. Your journey is one of the joint startups in the late 1990s until the CEO of Edge & Node becomes very great. Can you share what inspired you to move to the WEB3 space and how did your previous experiences in the field of entrepreneurship have formed your vision of Edge & Node?

Rodrigo Coelho: I originally took care of gold before the 2008 financial crisis, and went to the currency rabbit hole in the federal reserve and currency. I started to be interested in Bitcoin about buying Domino Pizza 2010. I followed this industry and got more concept in 2016 after she moved to San Francisco and met more builders. But what made me deal with the full jump and move to Web3 was meeting Yaniv Tal in a work space in late 2017 when he was working on the surface of the stadium for graph.

I was a serial pioneer, founded 3 other start -up startups, so as a colleague offered to help his deck or provide introductions to investors. We have developed a friendship and after months, I joined him as the first employee. My previous experience in the field of organizing project helped me because I was in the first league a jack for all professions from creating social channels, to deal with the cabin and the spoil in Hackaths, to create an accounting system, to deal with people’s operations. I have done a little of everything in my career.

I allowed me to be in the company from the start to suffer from a very deep contextual knowledge, including conducting an interview with everyone in the company and managed it, so as soon as I entered the role of the CEO a few months ago, I managed to reach the ground. I would like to say that the largest energy I brought is to run a sense of urgency and return to the engineering culture and the mentality of shipping.

Ishan Pandness: Edge & Node was useful in developing the graph, which is an invisible protocol for indexing and inquiring about Blockchain data. Through your last appointment as an executive president, what are the strategic initiatives that give it priority to enhancing the capabilities of the graph and supporting its widespread ecosystem?

Rodrigo Coelho: The first step for me was to really look under the hood and check each pillar of E & N with honesty and curiosity, and put everything on the table. I wanted to create space for people to bring their most daring ideas and the largest visions forward. No more coloring inside the lines. I do not want to build within the rules of imagination, I want to expand it.

This is the way we bring the best to our users through the entire stack. The most exciting me now is the real preposition that we see in the main sectors: traditional financing, real world assets, and institutions of institutions. This is how we close the gap between Web2 and Web3. This is the signals that we do not build on the Internet as an alternative – we will build the next Internet.

Ishan Pandness: The graph has been combined with approximately 100 Blockchain, which is a great achievement. What are the challenges you faced in maintaining such a wide overlapping operation, and how do you plan to face the progress?

Rodrigo Coelho: The interim operation of this scale is not a small work. Blockchain provides technical complications and unique governance. In the past, our goal was to integrate with the largest possible number of chains – but we have since we have re -focused our approach. Now, we put the priority for quality on the quantity, focusing on the chains that the developers build actively and where there is real excitement and momentum. This transformation allows us to better allocate resources, deepen support, and ensure the long -term sustainability of the ecosystem of the graphic drawing. Moving forward, we will continue to simplify integration efforts while staying parallel to the place where real innovation occurs.

Ishan Pandness: The experience of developers and community participation is very important for the success of decentralized protocols. What are the specific programs or resources carried out by Edge & Node to enable developers within the ecosystem of the graph?

Rodrigo Coelho: Since 2022, Edge & Node has operated House of Web3 in San Francisco, which has become a center of activity in the ecosystem for encryption. Ishan Pandness: Web3 scene develops quickly, with new trends and technologies constantly appearing. How is the Edge & Node location itself determined to stay advanced on these developments, and what role do you imagine in the chart that the chart plays in the future of decentralized applications?

Staying in the introduction is not only related to responding to directions, but rather to define them.

Rodrigo Coelho: In Edge & Node, we are builders in the heart. We have created sub -plans, a chart node, and basic parts of the decentralized stack. This is not innovation at the surface level. We poured the real heart, true race, and the real symbol in bringing things to the world that were not before. We do not copy and perpetuate the brand. Create. I see that the graph becomes synonymous with the same data. World data will flow through the graph in an organized and open and open way. Our goal is to make this flow as smooth as possible, with a user experience that is intuitive and strong like interacting with one click. This is the future that we build.

Ishan Pandness: Mobility in the organizational environment is a popular challenge for Blockchain projects. How do you approach Edge & Node while maintaining the principles of decentralization?

Rodrigo Coelho: We take compliance seriously and work with an experienced lawyer to understand and transfer global organizational frameworks. At the same time, we are still committed to decentralized ethics – design systems that do not depend on central control. It is an accurate balance, but we believe that it can be achieved through transparency and decentralization according to the design and governance led by society.

Ishan Pandness: Preserving the coherent organizational culture in a remote company of remote can be a challenge. What strategies do you use to enhance cooperation and innovation between your global team distributed?

Rodrigo Coelho: We give priority to deliberate communication, regular virtual gatherings and ASYNC cooperation tools. But moreover, we invest in the rituals that celebrate the victory, recognize contributions, and create a sense of belonging. We are doing external sites several times a year between the Graph Foundation and Edge & Node, which gives us an opportunity to meet face to face, cooperate in person, and deepen the communications that drive our work. We also have the Slack channel “Celebration of the Celebration” where we stretch each other, along with channels of music, paternity and motherhood, food, and more, small spaces that help enhance a coherent environment, even when our colleagues spread all over the world.

Ishan Pandness: Previously, I held the title of Serious Soul Employees at Edge & Node. How did this role affect your leadership style, and are there aspects of this position that you continue to integrate as an executive president?

Rodrigo Coelho: Being the chief spiritual employee about the sponsorship of the spirit of the organization, enhancing creativity, purpose and communication. As an executive president, I still carry this spirit close. I lead with sympathy, curiosity and belief that culture is a strategic advantage. This mentality affects everything about how decisions about how we support each other as teammates and humans. I also maintain an open door policy. There is no idea a bad idea, and I made sure that the team knows that. I don’t want anyone to be afraid of failure. In fact, I believe in failure. This is the way we grow, create, and ultimately do the work that changes everything.

Ishan Pandness: Looking forward to the future, where do you see Edge & Node and the ecosystem of the graphic drawing in the five years to the next ten years? What is the legacy that you hope to build during your presidency as an executive president?

Rodrigo Coelho: Our mission has always been to make Web3 real, and now, we are closer than ever. I imagine the graph as the backbone of the new internet, the invisible infrastructure that operates every decentralized application. Not web2, not web3 – just the web. the future. A world where users have ownership, free data flows, and innovation is not dismantled by gate guards. In Edge & Node, we are building more than technology, we are building a movement. I want our legacy that we are not only talking about what is possible, we have made it inevitable.
