I grew up in the rural areas of Michigan who gave me many meaningful experiences, but my childhood was also intertwined with poverty.
As a child, I attended Start the headFederally funded program for low -income families. Since it started as an eight -week project in 1965, Head Start has served more than 30 million children.
In April, five of Head Start Office Regional offices – in Boston, New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle – were closed as part of the discounts in the US Department of Health and Humanitarian Services. As a person who attended Head Start, I brought an early childhood experience a temple to my life for the first time and allowed me to learn and play in a safe and clean environment.
I am now a teacher who has a political background, nearly a decade of experience in education and public welfare issues, and my Master’s degree. I think my participation in Head Start helped make these opportunities possible for me.
Head Start taught me valuable skills at an early age

The program put me for success
I prepared my first years for the rest of my life. Today, I have a deep love for education. I work as a teacher. I studied in higher education, Early childhood educationAnd K-12. Although I was born in poverty, I managed to move to a middle -class life through educational opportunities. I’m forever grateful to my experiences at Head Start.
