Grandpa spent $ 7,700 on Disney family trip: Travel Tips learned
- I spent about 7,700 dollars taking my family of five goals to Disneyland for three nights in the past winter.
- Although it has become expensive, Disneyland trips have become a family tradition for us.
- For us, staying in the property and seizing three nights instead of two worth the additional cost.
Disneyland has always been a special place in my heart.
I grew up in Orange County, California, and every summer night, my family watched fireworks from Disneyland from the courtyard of our back.
I visited the teenage gardens, then with my wife when we got married for the first time. Once our son arrived, visiting Disney Gardens became the tradition of our family.
In the end, he became “very old” to hang out with my mother and father. For many years, my wife and I only visited Disney Parks from us, but we missed the experience with their loved ones.
Now that our son gave birth to his wife and child, we have re -visited the gardens as a family – and Disneyland became one of my favorite places again.
Winter trips to Disney became a new family tradition
For us, Dismani visits in December became a fairly new tradition.
For the second year in a row, we had our son, wife and child flying from Washington to California so that we could treat them on Disney’s trip. It is also a fun for us, because we spend time with them and our 3 -year -old granddaughter.
My wife and I am snowy birds, so the journey is also an opportunity to see our family in the winter without having to face cold temperatures and snow in Washington.
We always try to learn from our previous trips
Last time, we made Disney two nights two nights, but she felt very briefly. This time, I booked four days and three nights instead.
I allowed the additional night to check the hotel and enjoy the amenities without taking a lot of time away from the gardens. It was worth the additional cost.
On our last trip, we booked a Costco Travel Package to save money. This time, I chose to reserve directly through Disney so that I can customize our long journey better.
Although staying in Disney can be more expensive than staying in nearby hotels, it comes with many benefits, such as early access to the gardens (and a short distance to reach them).

Therefore, we stayed in the property again this year. I wanted to book a two -room wing at the Disneyland Hotel, but none of them were available when I booked it in August.
Instead, I booked two connected rooms with $ 4,456. However, just three weeks before our trip, I reviewed the Disney website and saw a available wing.
First, I am happy that I continued to verify regularly from the Disney website – you never know when anyone else can cancel and open the room you want. This can succeed with the meals that are difficult to obtain as well.
Second, I am grateful because I contacted guest services to change my reservation. Even the employee helped me find a promotional offer that would provide me with more than $ 1,300 on the price of the included wing.
In the end, our stay cost $ 4,571 – so I only paid $ 115 to upgrade to the pavilion.
The journey is never cheap, but it deserves it for us
After reserving the hotel, we also paid for two cars parking ($ 240), two days tickets with one garden accepting a day for four adults and one child ($ 1630), food, drinks, and souvenirs.
All that was collected, our journey was about 7700 dollars. This time, I also managed to cover about 1100 dollars of fees using the bonus dollars I gained with my Disney visa card.
Throughout the trip, we managed to enjoy time as a family, whether we are walking on horseback, or watching, or swimming in our hotel.
It was a lot of money, but the memories that we made again made the cost worth it. I am sure that we will return and we continue to consolidate this as the traditions of our family.
