Google’s “artificial intelligence mode” may be bad for Reddit
Google announced last week that it is introducing a new search tool backed by artificial intelligence that is simply related to artificial intelligence.
This can be bad for Reddit.
Reddit has grown dramatically over the past year, thanks to this significantly to determine the priorities of Reddit links in search results, and because researchers are often looking for human inputs on the Internet dominated by artificial intelligence and automatic robots increasingly.
In Google I/O last week, Google Sundar Pichai CEO described artificial intelligence as a “comprehensive reform” of the company’s search tool. User artificial intelligence mode will provide users more interviewer, instead of the traditional list of links. This means that Google can give user information on Reddit, without the user forced to visit the site.
This will mostly affect registered Reddit users, who are more than unusual visitors without their own accounts. Users who have been logged in are a daily Reddit lover. A lot of Reddit growth is with users who are recorded through Google Search.
On Monday, Reddit’s shares decreased about 5 % after Wells Fargo said it expected Reddit to decrease because “Google is the most implemented of artificial intelligence features in research.”
This was not the first time that the changes in Google’s search feature caused a decrease in Reddit shares. The company’s shares fell by more than 15 % in February after Hoffman said in a profit call that the site witnessed the “fluctuation” traffic in the fourth quarter after Google modified the research algorithm.
While algorithms often turn (just ask a digital news institution), Wales Fargo said that the recent user disorders on Reda “are likely to be more permanent” as research behavior changes in response to Google’s Amnesty International’s developments.
However, Reddit says that its registered users, who come to Reddit directly, are the main driver of its business.
“Many of our products work allows us to develop and develop user users who have been constantly logged in, who represent the basis for our impressions and stocks because of their very long participation in Reddit”. “It is not existential for us … I think the work is very healthy because, again, supported by users who have been logged in.”
Reddit also has the AI, Reddit interior tool, which responds to searches with the relevant information list in the site posts.
In the end, Hoffman says he is confident that Radet will keep his place on the Internet because of the human interactions it provides.
“There is no doubt that LLMS will develop online search. We can all see it. It’s great,” he said in a profit call with investors earlier this month. “Sometimes, people want the summary, explanatory and sterile answers of artificial intelligence, and even we build this ourselves in the answers of Redit. But at other times, they want subjective, real, chaotic views, which Reddit provides.”
He added: “In the same way that Reddit has been over the past decade as a substitute for social media – social media is performance and osteoporosis, and Reddit is the opposite – local communities and conversations will be a substitute for the answers to search for artificial intelligence.”
