Freedom of expression is at risk without technology, not central and open source

Opinion

Tim Burnars’s vision of me has died for the global network. Instead of an open and accessible global information system, the web is controlled by the central global data blocs, which not only restrict freedom of expression, but also controls your data as entry prices. Web2 companies built walled gardens with no huge information between companies and users.

Blockchain decentralization technology challenges the status quo, providing an alternative to closed sources of sources in WEB2.

It enables developers and engineers to build a control and control -resistant network and accessible from the issue of freedom of expression. Open source technology creates a typical transformation in a fair and comprehensive internet, as central web companies do not dictate the conditions.

Deferred

In 1989, Berners’s invention created a virtual space for cooperation, participation and learning from each other. The first repetition of the web is based on openness, where anyone can contribute, access information, work together, and enjoy the same opportunities.

The Internet is no longer free in 2025. The brute force in Capital has collected the central companies to practice authoritarian control over data flows and information flows.

Unfortunately, these companies have gained their strength and resources from non -perceived users who have contributed unresolved in capital accumulation strategies. Web2 companies collect data hidden from users without fair compensation and use it as a weapon to control the user’s behavior.

Companies harness user data to train dark algorithms and publish “discovery” information to form user beliefs and emotions. This practice is mainly visible on central social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and X, with multiple scandals and suggestions waiting for user confidence erosion.

For example, in June 2024, Meta, the parent company for Facebook and Instagram, received 11 complaints from the European Union members. Complaints on the use of personal data such as publications and photos to train Meta models of artificial intelligence without approval, and to rub the European Union privacy laws.

The Cambridge Analytica scandal showed how companies designing data to form political views and election results. These companies also build pre -defined accounts and form market behavior by enhancing or sabotaging coordinated reports, and sometimes general views on health and economic data.

Under the Digital Markets Law, the European Commission began an investigation into the practices of Apple, Meta, Amazon and Alphabet. Meta also incurred a fine of $ 1.3 billion for her failure to comply with privacy systems.

In this environment, “freedom of expression” is still a distant dream because the entire technical stack is hostile to access and openness. To realize the Berners-LE vision, the applications should be used technically and decentralized and to be built from a thousand to ya on an open structure.

Make the Internet free (again)

The application of the application consists of its front and rear ends, data storage and content delivery (CDN). Web2 platforms rely on a central technical staple that exposes freedom of expression, while most Blockchain energy -powered applications benefit from the monitoring -resistant decentralized technology with a high time.

Some decentralized applications (DAPPS) build their front end on a decentralized interface. However, most of its rear end is still stuck in the central data infrastructure.

For example, despite the weaknesses of monitoring and individual failure points, decentralized applications (DAPS) often use central cloud service providers and data hosting platforms. These types of attack tankers make projects such as Tornado Cash subject to the mood of the changing actors.

The shift to open source protocols to store distributed data such as the files between the planets (IPFS) and Filecoin supports the philosophy of freedom of expression on DAPPS. These protocols provide an anti -censorship and storage facility that is still available without arbitrary interruption.

DAPPS also uses the Central Dimensions Coordinators (RPC) to provide data from the back interface to the front end, especially through multiple networks. But any interruption or attack, such as the attack on X, can lead to work, inaccuracy, data gaps and unlawful information flows. If it is not much, remember the time of stopping or inaccuracy in decentralized financing, it can cost billions.

Avoid decentralized protocols these situations by converting access to data and transferring channels with independent knot operators. Data information is distributed over the network, eliminating any one point of failure and providing the availability of data without interruption. More importantly, it protects freedom of expression rights because no single knot can prevent or obstruct data flow, and the network remains available even if there is a lot of contract in non -connection mode.

CDN, another important component to serve user requests, can be accessed due to market pressure or political impact. Mysterious decisions of closed doors meetings dictate data flows on CDNS without any certainty of information flows.

Start with the basics

Decentralization protocols remove the need to make central decisions by enabling applications to access directly to data without intermediaries. These protocols have no data and open source service providers with users and applications, and remove human reaction and associated manufactured problems.

Blockchain powered platforms laid the basis for a central, non -central stack that enhances freedom of expression and is not controlled by central web2 companies. These protocols are built without permission an open source world and returning the Internet to the Berners-LE vision of a global network.
