ETHEREUM defines a new date for Pectra upgrade after technical problems

Ethereum’s Pectra upgrade is now scheduled to go on the Mainnet on May 7, 2025.

Technical challenges

PECTRA is one of the most important ETHEREUMs since the network is transferred to the consensus mechanism to prove suspension in 2022. It merges the Prague implementation layer with the Electra consensus layer and includes 11 proposals to improve ETHEREUM (EIPS) that aims to improve the expansion of Blockchain, and use it.

It was originally planned in March 2025, changes were postponed due to the challenges they faced during the implementation of Testnet. Specifically, the Holesky Testnet faced final problems, preventing developers from following up with the original schedule. In addition, a simple mistake was discovered in Sepolia Testnet in early March, which was identified and solved before more test.

The developers then launched a Hudi test, as it succeeded in running the improvements without major accidents. This stage has confirmed the date of the publication of May 7, 2025.

Despite the recent developments, the performance of the ETHEREUM market remained weak, as it published the distinctive symbol of the original ethics its worst performance in the first quarter in 7 years. Main features and improvements

PECTRA has many improvements that aim to make Ethereum easier and more effective. The main features in the new version include the functions of the governor’s smart contract, improved defense capabilities, accounting, concession management, and the ability to care for transactions.

Extra accounting accounts (EOAS) will be allowed to work similar to the smart contract portfolios, and to provide advanced features such as renewal of transactions, graphics care, and custom safety rules. These improvements are expected to enhance ETHEREUM flexibility, which makes decentralized applications (DAPS) easier for users.

PETRA also increases the maximum auditor from 32 ETH to 2,048 ETH. This change supports the largest auditors and allows smaller rewards to receive complex rewards.

Another addition is to take peerdas data available, which reduces the costs of layer -2 solutions by allowing the contract to check the availability of large data without downloading all of this. The upgrade also includes the format of the Machine (EVM) ETHEREUM, which enhances the EVM code to support future functions on both Layer-1 and Layer-2.
