Elon Musk is announced on June 22 as the initial launch date of the General Robotaxi service
Elon Musk said Tesla was “initial” to start providing a general robotics service in Austin, Texas, on June 22. He added that history was not placed in the stone and could change because Tesla was crazy about safety.

However, it is unclear who will be the first user of the Robotaxi service, the application that will be used, or the amount of cost you will cost.

Musk suggested that Austin was a city better than Los Angeles to start the Robotaxi service, although he did not specify the reason for the preference of Austin. However, Texas generally has lower regulations around self -government vehicles and much less density than Los Angeles, with about a quarter of the population of the city of South California.
Austin has become a kind of robotics battlefield, as Waymo has made an independent ride across the Uber platform since March. The CEO of Uber Dara Khosrowshahi said during the first -quarter profit call in May that a fleet of about 100 robots of Waymo was more preoccupied than more than 99 % of all drivers in Austin in terms of full daily flights. California Public Utilities Committee data revealed that Waymo had provided more than 5 million rides in three years. Waymo also increased the number of horse riding from about 12,000 in August 2023 to more than 708 thousand in March 2025.
Musk said that increasing the Tesla’s Robotaxi service will be fast, adding that there will be 1000 robots in a few months. He was also expected to be more than a million Tesla in the United States in the United States by the end of 2026.
However, the Mortingstar Seth Goldstein analyst said that Musk 2026 was “somewhat optimistic”, noting that the billionaire investor often missed his final dates. Goldstein believed that Tesla “will get there” ultimately, but confirmed that their FSD program is likely to take more repetitions than Tesla team expected as soon as they start to test the real Robotaxi service.
