Coo Dan Reed reality laboratory comes out in restructuring
Dan Reed, Executive Director of Operations in the Meta Laboratory Department, is approaching nearly 11 years in the company.
Reed’s departure is another leadership change while the department faces the escalation of internal and external pressure.
Bridge Announce Wednesday, in the LinkedIn Publishing, its time reflects what he described as “millions of dollars in consumer technology” that extends to wearable devices, augmented and mixed reality, and national reality.
“I see a lot of exciting opportunities in this field, which I intend to finally return to leadership and develop something wonderful and exciting,” he wrote. “Meanwhile, I am very excited after this 20 -year -old to take an extended break and have fun with my wife and boys, contact friends and family, and recharge.”
Reed, a former US Professional League executive, joined for the first time in 2014 to lead the company’s partnerships with sports teams and athletes.

Red’s departure follows the main Meta restructuring of the reality laboratories earlier this year. Business Insider said for the first time in January that the company began to integrate laboratories closely with its basic work. This transformation reflected the parts of Meta Mark Zuckerberg for the year 2021, which put the group as an independent division focused on metal.
According to the new teams, sales, marketing and analyzes that were once mentioned to Reed were redistributed under the leadership of a wider dead. Meta Coo Javier Olivan is now the previously led Reed teams, and other reality laboratories were aligned with senior company executives, including Alex Schultz and Partnership President Justin Osovsky.
Andrew Bosworth, the chief technology official in Mita, is at the time to direct the business group through a stage of rapid growth. An internal memorandum that saw BI in January said that the Reality Labs sales increased by 40 % year on an annual basis in 2024, and the department defeated almost all of its sales and user’s goals. Busworth described Red’s leadership as a “major part” of this success.
Despite these gains, reality laboratories still serve as a mitta. The department, which includes the headphones of Quest, Horizon Worlds and Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart, has achieved more than $ 60 billion of losses since 2020.
Last month, Meta cleared employees through reality laboratories, including the teams that work on VR Gaming and the supernatural fitness application.
Internally, Busworth described in 2025 as the “most important” in the department and said that the ambitious metaphors in Mita can achieve the health of years of investment or remember them as a “legendary adventure”.
