Bicyclists set off an explosion in a trash can near Crypto.com Arena – NBC Los Angeles
A group of bicyclists set off an explosion in a trash can, closing a road and disrupting traffic in downtown Los Angeles.
The explosion was reported just after 6:30 p.m. Saturday, prompting the Los Angeles Police Department to investigate a trash fire in the area of South Figueroa Street between West 12th Street and Pico Boulevard.
An LAPD spokesman told City News that the incident began a short time ago when cyclists were asked to evacuate the area, and some of them blew up a trash can.
No details were available about the size of the group or a description of its members. The nature of the explosive was not revealed.
Police are investigating the area for any other threats.
