Bhutan launches the first national encryption travel payment system with Binance Pay – Cryptomode

Puttan has partnership with the leadership of Cryptocurrency Exchange Binance and DK Bank to launch what he calls the first integrated national tourism payment system in the world.

Starting this month, travelers can use Crypto to pay the price of almost all over their journey – from booking airline tickets and applying for visas to buy fruit in a kiosk on the side of the road, according to After Binance.

The new system provides payments in more than 100 encrypted currencies, including Bitcoin (BTC), Binance (BNB), and USD (USDC). It is the settlement of transactions in Botanies Ngultrum, Fiat currency in the country, through DK Bank, the first full digital bank.

According to publication, users will only scan QR codes using the Binance app to complete purchases, which goes beyond the need for cash, cards or currency exchange.

To date, more than 100 merchants have signed, covering a wide range of tourism sector: hotels, travel agencies, restaurants, handicraft sellers, and even rural stores in remote areas.

This step is part of a broader strategy to update Bhutan’s economy while maintaining its cultural safety and enhancing fair development.

“This is more than just a motivation solution – it is a commitment to innovation, inclusion and comfort.” Damesho Ranzin, director of the Tourism Department in Bhutan, said.

Officials say the goal is to provide a smooth travel experience with the help of small companies to reach global spending power without traditional banking infrastructure.
