Army Secretary: American tanks must return to avoid cheap drone attacks
The new army secretary said that the United States is learning from the war in Ukraine that the tanks will not be able to ship forward in the fighting as they are so vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks with cheap drones.
“You cannot move without being seen,” said army minister Daniel Drskol on the battlefield in Ukraine during an episode of war on the rock. Podcast It was broadcast on Tuesday.
He said, “The amount of sensors in the battlefield, and the amount of ability on both sides to find out what is going on,” is to create a position in which army leaders cannot push the tanks “forward as much as you used to be able to be very cheap drones to get them out of any benefit.”
“We must be more large,” the secretary said. “We have to work to hide ourselves from the air.” His statements are hesitant to fears other army leaders, who warned that the unavailable regimes always see the battlefield.
The tanks took a serious beating in the Ukrainian conflict. ORYX, an open source intelligence site that visually tracks the losses of military equipment, that Moscow has lost at least 3900 tanks; KYIV has been more than 1100. The majority of these were destroyed in the fighting, while some were damaged, abandoned or arrested.

Drones pose a major threat to tanks in Ukraine. The commander of one of the Obrams M1 American service with the Kiev army of Business from the inside said that Russian drones are specifically dangerous. He said that the tank depends on additional preventive shields and the capabilities of electronic warfare to stay safe. However, there were losses.
Severe losses led to the assessments that the tanks may be old in wars dominated by drones. However, DRISCOLL recently told BI that the role of American tanks would change rather than disappear. Instead of attacks on joint weapons led by Armor, where the tanks are the first to hit the front lines and lead breach, unintended systems may lead to shipping instead.
Drskol said that the tanks will remain in safe situations and defend until there is a clear path that allows them to move forward. This is a break from the traditional role of tanks, but it is seen by the military planners as necessary in a world where armored cars that are easily worth millions can be chosen by drones worth a few hundred dollars.
The use of cheap drones to destroy expensive armored vehicles has proven that it is an effective tactic of the unequal war. American forces have enjoyed air superiority in recent conflicts, and do not need to search constantly for the air force of the enemy. This changes with drones.
American soldiers are training tanks and other armored vehicles that they learn to need to be aware of their surroundings. This includes the search for potential incoming threats.
