Brian Chesky reveals the main differences between the founders and managers

Airbnb Brian Chesky CEO is closely known for what the founders alone bring to the table – and what they lack.

In an interview with “The Diary of CEO” PodCast, Chesky revealed the three decisive qualities that the founders believe that managers do not do that. They say they have a unique love to work as the company’s “biological parent”, they have “permission” to make big changes, and they know that their metaphorical child is better than anyone else.

“You can love something, but when the biological parent is for something, it came from you, you are,” Chisky, who built Airbnb during the 2008 financial crisis. “There is a passion and a deep love.”

Unlike managers, who often join a company as soon as they are already built, the founders enjoy full control, or what Chesky calls “permission”. Based on the borrowing of parents, the concept compares how parents tell other children about what to do, but they can inform their children with what they should do. Chesky said that managers may not feel that they have a latitude to rename the company, for example, the founders may feel this authority.

Finally, Chesky said that the founder knows the roots of his company – their child, in this case – in a way that the manager does not simply do.

“He built her, so you know how to rebuild it,” he said. The founders know the nuts and the foundational screws of their company before they were completely formed – they said they understood “alloys, as they were obtained.”

However, Chesky also revealed two major problems for the founders. He said that most of them cannot expand the management of a huge company – and they collide with the inevitable truth of their deaths.

“The great companies usually want to live longer than humans do, and therefore you end up with the inevitable challenge that Disney and Steve Jobs faced,” he said. “It is the layout of the caliphate.”

Technology companies, including Microsoft and Amazon, recently cleared medium managers to reduce the bureaucratic uprising, but experts previously told BI that efforts may go away. Job opportunities for beginners are also minimal in technology and financing worlds.

Airbnb makes major changes, although it is not related to the management structure. The company launches Airbnb services, which provide special chefs and personal trainers, in an attempt to retreat customers from hotels.

Axel Springer, the parent company of Insider Inc. , It is an investor in Airbnb.
