Tips formed most of the profits of food delivery drivers in 2024: study
- Food delivery workers relied on tips for a majority of their salaries last year, in a new study.
- Tips were also a major source of income for grocery grocery workers, according to Gridwise.
- The party workers said that wages such as Doordash and Uber Eats are often not enough.
The person who delivers your restaurant request may depend on your advice to rent.
Food delivery drivers have achieved 53.4 % of their total profits of advice on average last year, a report from the data analysis company Retina It was published on Tuesday.
The wages offered by companies such as Doordash and Uber EATS to submit applications can be low to $ 2 or $ 3, according to Business Insider. This means that many delivery workers are looking for customers to make the delivery operations that make them profitable, said Ryan Green, CEO of Gridwise.
“It depends on the consumer,” Green told Bi.
According to the report, the tips represented 45.7 % of the profits of workers who delivered the grocery store. Passen drivers received only 10.4 % of their money from the tips.

The Gridwise report looked at several aspects of an annoyed work, including party workers’ salaries on both the main delivery applications of delivery. The company has analyzed 171 million trips and $ 1.9 billion of Gig’s business profits to collect its results for 2024.
Uber refused to comment on the discovery of Gridwise. A company spokesman BI told that Uber provides a proposed advice on food orders – the 15 % most common – although customers decide the amount. It also encourages customers to raise more during stormy weather, such as snowstorms.
An InstaCart spokesman called Gridwise’s conclusion “inaccurate and misleading.” InstaCart asks customers if they want to increase their advice when they give the shopper a five -star rating. Since 2022, the company has also offered the payment of shoppers to $ 10 when the customer takes his tip away after delivery.
Doordash did not respond to a request to comment on the results of BI.
Tips have always been a great focus for workers. Some tell BI that they decide which orders that must be followed depending on the amount of advice. But this may be fraught with risks: Some drivers said to serve the spark delivery in Walmart last year that customers are sometimes preparing their advice after their arrival – a tactic that workers call the “party to the party.”
Other applications, including Instacart and Doordash, have faced this practice by shortening time that customers have to control.
In late 2023, Doordash began to tell some customers that their orders may take longer to reach if they were not raised. A company spokesman told BI at a time when Doordash workers can choose the orders they receive.
