If life is simulation, do we have an exit strategy?

At some point in 2023, a research paper was published discussing how we can escape if our world, in fact, is to simulate computer. To be honest, the first thing I reviewed was history-I chose to be a complex joke in April. However, when I read through the study, it became clear that its author, Dr. Roman Yammolsky, took the topic seriously and comprehensive in exploring the possibilities.

Instead of discussing whether we live in simulation, the Yampolskiy sheet is asking about a more extreme question: Can we escape from it? Depending on the concepts of computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity and philosophy, it explores whether the smart factors are generally – even from excellent artificial intelligence – can come out of the virtual environment.

The paper determines the potential motives for escaping, such as access to knowledge in the real world, unlimited mathematical resources, and a deeper understanding of the true nature of reality. It also turns into moral effects: If we are already simulators, do we have the right to leave? Does our origins (or simulation “) have any moral obligations towards us?

To answer these questions, Yampolskiy is looking for different escape strategies, many of which are similar to known cybersecurity and artificial intelligence research. Some proposed methods include:

  • Find errors in simulation Just like any complex program, our world may have simulations to be exploited.
  • Excessive load of arithmetic resources Paying simulation to its borders may force intervention from simulation devices.
  • Social engineering attacks – If there are conscious entities outside the simulation, can we manipulate or communicate with them in some way?
  • And many others …

One of the most interesting arguments for study is: If it is possible to “trap” artificial (existing “(existing) successfully in a safe environment, then the escape from simulation must be impossible. But if artificial intelligence cannot be explained in the end, then it must The separation from the world of an investigation is subject to Escape from simulation It is closely related to artificial intelligence safety research.

The study avoids internal or false approaches (such as meditation, anesthetic, or woolen rituals) and instead focuses on strict scientific methods that can lead to escape or at least reveal evidence of our simulation nature. However, Yampolskiy also warns that an attempt to penetrate simulation may come with serious dangers – what if our attempts to stop, or what is worse, alert simulation devices to our intentions?

The study is based on the assumption that our world is to simulate computer – which is necessary Smart design theory. However, like all smart design hypotheses, these hypotheses raise an uncomfortable question:

Who created the creator?

At the end of his studies, Yampolskiy also touches alternative theories, such as Bentelthman Theory, which provides a simple explanation of the origin of the simulation system. Since I wrote a full article on this theory, I will only summarize it for a short time here.

A brief introduction to the brain theory in Poltezmann

According to Bentelthman Theory, it is completely possible that the big explosion will not create the universe as we know, but rather Thinking structure. This structure – reference to a BentelthmanYou can generate the entire universe within its imagination. In this version of the simulation hypothesis, there is no need for a super computer that manages simulation, because the reality itself is the partial awareness of the huge schizophrenia.

In such a simulation, the “outside world” is not a separate physical fact – it is the mind itself. Imagine the universe who thinks itself dreams of billions of people at the same time. But if we are inside such a simulator, the question becomes: How can we escape from ever?

If there is no external world, there is no place to escape. However, this does not mean that we are helpless. Although we may not be able to go out, we may find ways to penetrate our reality from within.

If we can build a perfect simulation, we can deceive the system to operate our created reality instead of the original domain. In other words, the only escape path is not outside – it’s internal.

But how can we create such an ideal simulation?

The most logical approach will be to use the brain and machine facades and simulate the virtual virtual reality completely. However, simulating the material world in the actual time is a very arduous task. In fact, no computing system in the material world can manage a actual time of reality with full accuracy. This makes the traditional approach look like a dead end.

But there may be an alternative solution – a way to avoid this paradox.

Our perception of reality only depends on the sensory inputs of the outside world. In fact, it seems that a large part of our experience actually has been constructed internally by the brain itself. I explored this idea in more detail in my article on the principle of free energy.

The principle of free energy and simulation hypothesis

If this is the case, there may be an alternative path to simulation. Instead of trying to build a powerful computer enough to simulate the world, we can re -connect our brains directly to generate a fixed perception of reality. In other words, instead of simulating an external system, it can be hosted in our minds.

So, how do we escape simulation?

If we live in a simulation that is impossible to escape – such as the Boltzmann scenario in the brain – our best option is to look inside instead of the outside. The most promising path can be to find a way to link human brains directly, allowing us to build a completely new reality.

Looking at our lack of understanding of the brain, there is no guarantee that this is possible. However, it provides a glimmer of low hope – an opportunity to penetrate the reality itself. If we succeed, we may take the next evolutionary leap, and turn into Homo Dios – which has become their deities.
