I was a teacher of middle school social studies when I got my real estate license for the first time. I was in the industry for nine years.

Initially, I was only planning to make part-time real estate to complete the teaching-just summer and a little additional income. However, I discovered my passion for it and has completely flooded in this industry since 2016. I opened my own mediation in 2022.

Mobility in the industry as a woman means a balance between stereotypes and maintaining originality. It was a tough journey – not easy, but incredibly rewarding.

Although the average side appearance of real estate agents is a female, it tends to be more dominating males when it comes to relevant fields such as inspection, construction and development. I have lost the number of times the contractor or customer “Splain” has tried something already familiar with it.

I have experienced experiences where I spoke to male inspectors or contractors, and they will say things like, “Well, you don’t know anything about it”, or try to speak above me – if we are not colleagues and at the same level. These moments have taught me the value of preparation and confidence.

Safety is another decisive aspect of this industry. Real estate agents, we often meet new people in unfamiliar locations, so it is necessary to determine the priorities of our well -being.

Sometimes, sellers forget to secure weapons or property, and sometimes sellers agents fail to communicate that the seller will remain at home during the show. Entering a person’s house can be worrying, and in some cases, people may interact out of fear.

I have always learned to share my site with a reliable person, along with the name and details of the person I met. More importantly, I learned to trust in my instincts. If there is something, I take precautions.

I will do some due care, especially if you feel a feeling of the digestive channel that something is completely incorrect.

We have benefit through our local board association called Forewarn. It is an application that allows you to search for a person by name or phone number and shows its criminal history and their general records.

I also tend to conduct research on social media If I am not sure of someone, especially if they do not refer them to a family member or someone I know.

If something is still suspended, then the last close to them is to take another agent with me – preferably male. Sometimes, my husband came to offers for more presence.

There is no treatment worth bargaining for your safety.
