7-Eleven in South Korea to accept CBDC payments on the national pilot program

The 7-Eleven stores will accept payments in the Central Bank of the Central Bank (CBDC) until June, where the retail seller participates in the CBDC project test phase.

According to the stores series Extend 10 % discount on all paid products with CBDC during the test period. According to Moon Dae-Loo, Head of the Digital Innovation Department at 7-Eleven, the company is making an effort to integrate digital technology developments into its operations.

The CEO added that the company’s participation in the CBDC test will help accelerate the company’s digital transformation.

Many stores will participate in the CBDC test in South Korea, which lasts from April 1 to June 30. The project also includes 100,000 participants allowed to test payments using CBDC issued by the Central Bank.

The central bank currencies are the digital assets issued by government agencies. Like other digital assets, CBDCS provides faster and more updated payment features. However, unlike Bitcoin and other privacy symbols that provide certain levels of non -disclosure, CBDCS is controlled and monitored by governments.
